Gjirafa eSIM Installation Guide

This guide provides a detailed walkthrough for installing your Gjirafa Travel eSIM on both iOS and Android/Pixel devices. It covers all installation methods QR code, manual entry, and quick install, along with screenshots for visual clarity.

Before You Begin

To guarantee a smooth and successful eSIM installation, please ensure the following:

  • Your device supports eSIM technology. You can check the list of supported devices here.
  • You have a stable internet connection, preferably over Wi-Fi.
  • You've received all the necessary details via email: QR code, activation code and SM-DP+ address.

iOS installation guide

Method 1: Instant install from email (Direct Method)

This is the simplest and fastest way to install your eSIM if you're using an iPhone.

  1. Open the email you received after purchasing your eSIM.
  2. Press and hold the QR code in the email.
  3. From the options that appear, select Add eSIM.

  4. Your phone will automatically begin the installation.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate the plan.

This method works on iOS 17+ and is ideal if you received the email directly on your iPhone.

Method 2: QR code installation

  1. Open Settings > Mobile Service.

  3. Select Use QR Code.

  4. Scan the QR code from your email or computer screen.

  5. Tap Continue to proceed.

  6. Your eSIM will install and appear under SIMs as active.

Method 3: Manual installation

  1. Go to Settings > Mobile Service > Add eSIM.

  2. Tap Enter Details Manually.

  3. Enter the following fields:
    • SM-DP+ Address
    • Activation Code
    • Confirmation Code (if provided)

  4. Continue through the prompts to activate.

Final Step: Enable and configure

  1. Under Mobile Service, select the eSIM you installed.

  2. Toggle Turn On This Line and Enable Data Roaming.

  3. If needed, go to Mobile Data Network and enter the APN provided in your email.

Android installation guide

Method 1: Smart install via email (AI-Assisted)

On newer Pixel and Samsung devices running the latest Android versions, Google's AI-powered assistant (Gemini or Android Intelligence) can help detect and activate eSIMs directly from your inbox.

  1. Open the email that contains your eSIM QR code.
  2. Press and hold the home gesture bar (Home button).
  3. Select Setup eSIM or Add eSIM from the options.

  4. The device will process the QR code automatically and open the eSIM installation screen.

  5. Follow the instructions to complete activation.

This method is the most seamless if the eSIM email is accessed directly on your Android device.

Method 2: Install via QR code

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs.

  4. Point your camera at the QR code received in your email.

  5. Tap Set up and then activate the eSIM.

Method 3: Manual installation

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs.

  3. Select Scan from Photo.

  4. Select the photo of the QR Code you received as an email attachment.
  5. Tap Set up and then Activate eSIM.

Final Step: Enable and configure

  1. Return to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs.

  2. Select and turn on your new eSIM.

  3. While configuring your eSIM, choose the new eSIM as your Mobile Data provider.
